The Phuket Sandbox: Where in Thailand can You travel to after 14 Days?

The promise of the Phuket Sandboy model for vaccinated international tourists: If you remain free from Covid-19 you can leave Phuket and travel to other provinces in Thailand. But there are problems: The Covid-19 infections in many of Thailands provinces and especially Bangkok are still high and many provinces have special entry and other regulations.

For example Bangkok: From Tuesday 3. August a curfew from 9 pm to 4 am has been imposed for two weeks. Restaurant dine-in has already been banned since Monday June 28. And people are told to stay home unless it is necessary to buy food or medicines, to seek medical treatment, to get vaccinations or to go to their offices because they cannot work from home. Other restrictions: A ban on public gatherings or activities of more than five people, closure at 8pm of all eateries and supermarkets, including those in shopping malls, convenience stores, pharmacies and fresh markets.Convenience stores can open from 4am until 8pm.
Not only Bangkok has this curfew and the restrictions, but also the following provinces: Ang Thong, Ayutthaya, Chachoengsao, Chon Buri (Pattaya), Kanchanaburi, Lop Buri, Nakhon Nayok, Nakhon Pathom, Nakhon Ratchasima, Nonthaburi, Narathiwat, Pathum Thani, Pattani, Petchabun, Prachin Buri, Prachuap Khiri Khan (with Hua Hin), Ratchaburi, Rayong, Yala, Samut Songkhram, Samut Prakan, Samut Sakhon, Saraburi, Sing Buri, Songkhla, Suphanburi and Tak. The Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) will evaluate the situation again on Aug 18 and Dr Apisamai indicated that a further extension to the end of August was on the cards. Nobody knows for the moment, what will happen after this period. The best thing you can do is follow updates on facebook.com/treasuresofthailand.

And if you stay in Bangkok and the other 28 dark red provinces and want to travel to another province, you may have to go to quarantaine there.

For example alcohol: In many provinces restaurants are not allowed to serve alcohol. In Phuket restaurants may serve alcohol until 9 pm. But entertainment venues remain closed.

The colors of the provinces: Thailands provinces now have the following colors according to their Covid-19 cases. If you stay in such a province, you may find entry restrictions in other provinces. The colors:

Exceptions are Sandbox and Samui+ flights, medical flights and emergency landing. Other routes can only fly at 50% capacity.

If you want to do interprovincial travels, you are advised to fill in this form. It helps you to come through checkpoints.
