Bottle Beach (Had Khuat)

A secluded paradise on the northeast side of Ko Phangan. The normal way to go there is by boat from Chaloklum (Taxi at Thongsala pier to Chaloklum. long boat to bottle beach). Not much to do here: A place just for relaxing and playing beach volleyball, having a Thai massage at the beach, reading a book. Read how twobeersandapretzel.com
describes it. And read the blog of lowellandjulie.

There is a bumpy way for a 20 minutes drive to Thong Nai Pan;

Bottle Beach 1 Resort: From 550 Baht. With pool. Mixed reviews on tripadvisor.com, service seems to be quite relaxed sometimes.

Bottle Beach 2 Bungalows: Most of them directly on the beach. "The restaurant staff have been known to blast loud music after closing, so go for a bungalow further down the beach if you're a light sleeper", is the advise of travelfish.org.

Haad Kuad Resort - Bottle Beach III: From 200 Baht. "The enormous wooden beach bungalows are probably the best on the beach and are very spacious and comfortable with large comfy beds and funky little attics", comments travelfish.org. See picture by La Rizzoloca

Smile Bungalows: From 350 Baht. Rooms alongside a hill are "cheap but not the most comfortable on the beach", notes travelfish.org. See picture by mhdozier

Had Rin

Famous for Full Moon Parties, attraction a lot of backpackers (and drugs) with 10000 to 30000 people each month (see Fullmoon-Party-News). Two beaches: Had rin Nok (sunrise beach) and Had Rin Nai (sunset beach). "Don't expect an authentic Thai experience here, but rather hordes of young western backpackers crowding the streets, watching movies and sitcoms in the restaurants by day and partying till they drop come the evening", describes travelfish.org.

  3. Koh Phangan is world-famous for its Full Moon parties, with up to 30,000 people partying on the beach in Koh Phangan Resort to share sweat with people from all over the world! The party peaks at sunrise and eventually tapers off in the afternoon, leaving a scene of carnage behind on the beach. Full Moon Parties are chaotic but lots of fun, and generally considered a rite of passage in Southeast Asia.
